2008 Tournaments
May 3: The fourth Offshore Big 3 Fishing Tournament. Sponsored by the Hibiscus Children's Center. Headquarters at the Fort Pierce City Marina. Mandatory captain's meeting at 7:30 p.m. May 2 at the Fort Pierce Community Center. Tournament begins at 6 a.m. on May 3 with boats leaving from the Fort Pierce, Sebastian, and St. Lucie inlets. Eligible species kingfish, dolphin, and wahoo. Prizes total $13,000 based on 100-boat entry. Additionally, matching weight prizes for more than $50,000 in prize money. Entry fee $250 per boat and includes tournament shirt for each registered angler, one event bucket, and two buffet dinner tickets to the captain's meeting. Late entry fee (after April 25) is $280 per boat. A 50/50 category has been added for grouper and yellowfin tuna for an additional $100 per boat. May 10: 35th Sebastian Inlet Sportfishing Association Spring Fling. Offshore Sebastian Inlet. Headquarters at Capt. Hiram's Restaurant and Marina in Sebastian. Registration is 6 to 9 p.m. May 9 at Capt. Hiram's. More than $10,000 in cash prizes. Entry fee $175 per boat. Eligible species dolphin, wahoo and king mackerel. May 17: Cape Marina Port Canaveral. HBCA Off-Shore tournament. Captain's meeting 6 p.m. May 16 at Cape Marina. Fishing begins at safe first light May 17. Weigh-in from 3 to 5 p.m. at Cape Marina. Entry fee $175 per boat. Three divisions: dolphin, kingfish and wahoo. Prizes are $1,000 for first place, $750 for second and $500 for third in all three divisions. Call Capt. May 17: House of Power's ninth Blue Water Brawl. Captain's meeting May 16 at Squid Lips Overwater Grill. Anglers can leave from any port, but must check in with committee boat by 5 p.m. Payouts are based on 100 boats in four categories: dolphin, wahoo, kingfish, grouper/snapper. First place in each will pay $2,000, second $1,000, and third $500. Cash and prizes also for lady angler, junior and top boat categories, to be announced at the meeting. Entry fee is $175 with an optional $25 big fish pool. Estimated cash and prizes will be $20,000 and money from entry fees and raffles will benefit Space Coast Early Intervention Center. Call Capt. May 24: Central Florida Offshore Anglers Memorial Day Tournament. Offshore Port Canaveral. Captain's meeting at Fish Lips. Weigh-in site to be announced. Guaranteed $10,000 in cash prizes. May 24: 32nd Exchange Club Blue Water Open. Offshore Fort Pierce Inlet. Sponsored by Exchange Club of Indian River at Vero Beach. Headquarters at Fort Pierce City Marina. Guaranteed cash prizes of $10,000 based on 75-boat field. Eligible species dolphin, wahoo, king mackerel, grouper and snapper. Registration begins 6 p.m. May 23 at Fort Pierce City Marina. May 31: 40th Florida Sport Fishing Association Offshore Slam. Offshore Port Canaveral. Headquarters at Sunrise Marina. Prizes estimated at $20,000. Eligible species dolphin, wahoo, king mackerel, cobia, red snapper and all grouper except Warsaw grouper. Entry $150 per boat. June 7: 11th annual Coconuts on the Beach Wahoo and Dolphin Shootout. Offshore Port Canaveral. Only wahoo and dolphin eligible. Cash prizes total $35,000 based on 120-boat field. Grand prize for overall slam of combined weight of dolphin and wahoo. Entry fee is $225 a boat. Captain's party on June 6 at Coconuts on the Beach and weigh-in at Rusty's Seafood and Oyster bar at Port Canaveral.
